National Development and Reform Commission: Six major categories of plastic products to be banned from production and sale

On April 10th, the National Development and Reform Commission, together with relevant departments, organized the drafting of the "Catalogue of Plastic Products Prohibited, Restricted from Production, Sale, and Use (Draft for Comments)" (referred to as the "Draft for Comments"), which is now open for public comments.

The draft for soliciting opinions proposes that the production and sale of plastic products prohibited include six categories, namely ultra-thin plastic shopping bags with a thickness less than 0.025 millimeters, polyethylene agricultural films with a thickness less than 0.01 millimeters, plastic products made from medical waste, disposable foam plastic tableware, disposable plastic cotton swabs, and daily chemical products containing plastic microbeads.

In addition, the prohibited and restricted use of plastic products includes non degradable plastic bags, non degradable disposable plastic tableware, non degradable disposable plastic straws, disposable plastic products for hotels and guesthouses, and plastic packaging for express delivery.
